Bell Associates is situated in Kaitaia, which is a service town to a sizable rural area of the Far North of New Zealand. Naturally this means that much of the work that we carry out has a rural focus. For example, farming is a specialist business, and we are proud to be able to provide a wide range of services to the farming community. However, many other types of businesses also form part of the overall business community in the Far North, and we are very much involved in assisting these businesses to comply with statutory requirements and to achieve their financial objectives.
The principal of Bell Associates is John Bell BCom CA. John has more than 30 years experience in chartered accounting in urban and rural New Zealand. John graduated BCom from the University of Auckland in 1972, majoring in accounting. He was admitted as a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1976 and has also held a Certificate of Public Practice from that same time. Subsequent to graduation, John was employed in Auckland and carried out audit work for both the private and public sector entities. John travelled abroad in 1973, and worked in London with Deloitte. On the invitation of a local public practitioner in 1975 John returned to New Zealand entering practice as a chartered accountant in Kaitaia.
John was born and raised on a dairy farm in Kaitaia. He returned to the place of his upbringing despite having spent many years away from Kaitaia, including five years of secondary boarding school in Auckland. John married in 1974 in London, to his wife Robyn. Robyn was also born and raised in a rural setting, on a large beef cattle property in central Queensland, Australia.
At Bell Associates, John is assisted by his very capable staff members, Rose Baker, Charissa Duzevich-Knight and Ruth Shepherd.
